Federal programs fire departments win

We rank programs by the federal grant dollars they paid to groups like yours. That means groups named fire department, volunteer fire, fire district or rescue squad. We counted awards from October 2019 through September 2026 (federal fiscal years 2020–2026), from USAspending.gov. In that time, Tennessee departments won $15.3 million from Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG). They won $2.8 million from Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grants.
