What it pays for

Goal: Improve the functioning of the criminal justice system to prevent and reduce crime. Provide critical funding to state, local, and tribal governments under nine statutorily required program areas to improve the functioning of the criminal justice system and reduce crime. Improve the administration of the criminal justice system. Provide funding to states and eligible units of local government with additional personnel, equipment, supplies, contractual support, training, technical assistance, and information systems; and assist units of local government with their criminal justice needs.
