What it pays for

Goal: Improve handling of child abuse and neglect cases in Indian communities. Provide funding to help American Indian and Alaska Native communities improve the investigation, prosecution, and handling of cases of criminal child abuse and neglect (particularly child sexual abuse cases) in a manner that lessens trauma for child victims. Support criminal investigations and prosecutions of child abuse cases and provide services to victims. Program objective description: Establish or enhance a legal system to conduct criminal investigation and prosecution of child abuse cases; provide emergency and crisis intervention services to aid child abuse victims and their family members in recovering from abuse and neglect; and provide trauma-informed support services to criminal child abuse victims and their non-offending family members.
