What it pays for

1890 Facilities Grants Program provides funding for the acquisition and improvement of food, agricultural, natural resource, and human (FANH) science facilities and equipment, including libraries, so that the 1890 Land-grant Universities may participate fully in the research, Extension/outreach, and education enterprises of the higher education system.

Eligible applicants under this Program are the 1890 land-grant institutions, including Central State University, Tuskegee University, and West Virginia State University. The detailed listing of eligible applicants follows: Alabama A&M University, Tuskegee University, University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Delaware State University, Florida A&M University, Fort Valley State University, Kentucky State University, Southern University, University of Maryland-Eastern Shore, Lincoln University, Alcorn State University, North Carolina A&T State University, Langston University, South Carolina State University, Tennessee State University, Prairie View A&M University, Virginia State University, West Virginia State University, and Central State University. Fiscal year 2025: DEVELOPMENT OF FACILITIES FOR FOOD AND AGRICULTURE SCIENCES RESEARCH, EXTENSION, & TEACHING: This 5 Years Facilities program to support integrative research, education, and Extension by: (I) Renovating and expanding teaching, research, and Extension labs and facilities (II) expanding marketing and innovation center to include facilities for agricultural production and consumer science research, Extension and teaching facilities and, III) Establishing and Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Policy Complex to promote education, research, and Extension for Agribusiness, Bioscience, and Policy/Development programs, and, (IV) Plan and begin new construction of a poultry complex for research, Extension, and teaching facility. FACILITIES PROGRAM: This five-year plan of work will build upon previous efforts to enhance, expand, and better integrate agricultural research, academics, and Extension programs.
